Cut to the chase: A ruthenium complex derived from 1- adamantyl carboxylate (1-AdCO2-) enabled highly regioselective intermolecular direct alkylation of arenes with unactivated primary and secondary alkyl halides bearing β-hydrogen atoms (see scheme; NMP=Nmethylpyrrolidinone). © 2009 Wiley-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co.
