OXYNITRIDE GLASSES IN THE SYSTEM MG-AL-SI-O-N, PREPARED WITH THE AID OF AN ELECTROCHEMICALLY DERIVED POLYMERIC PRECURSOR

摘要
MgO.xSiO2 powders were prepared by a sol-gel method and subsequently dried and calcined. The resulting highly porous powders were mixed with an electrochemically derived polymeric aluminum containing precursor and subsequently calcined again. Melting of these powder batches at temperatures in the range of 1500-1700-degrees-C using high heating and cooling rates and short soaking times resulted in the formation of oxynitride glasses possessing nitrogen contents up to 7.95 wt%.
